One of the scariest things I’ve experienced happened the other night.
I just got home from watching The Devil Inside with Kris that night, and it creeped me out a bit. As the usual, Kris and I called each other and pillow talked starting at around 11pm. Later on during the phone call, at around 1:25 AM, I was half asleep, with the lights off in my room and eyes closed. Facing the ceiling. Suddenly, I hear this weird vibrating hum that dawned over me. It sounded as if it was right above my face— literally. You know when someone’s singing and their voice goes vibrato, the voice falling up and down? It sounded something like that. My eyes then flew wide open, as Kris goes on the other line: “What the fuck was that? Is there someone on the line with us? Did you hear that deep throaty laugh?” I thought to myself for a second: it’s the middle of the night, no one is awake nor talking, and my window is fucking closed shut, what the hell could it have been? I heard the sound nice and clear, I was 100% sure that it wasn’t just some static over the phone or anything, because Kris told me that it sounded like a legit laugh. That’s when I got hella scared. I jumped off my bed and quickly switched my lights on. Sat on my bed again, and I was shaking as I held my celphone against my ear.
Now I don’t know about you, but I believe in all those spirits and paranormal shit. So as if it was a movie, I tried to just improvise and play it off— acting as if it didn’t bother me and everything was fine. Because I decided, that if I showed my fear and that I was totally freaking out on the spot, the spirit of that voice or whatever the fuck it was, would get even more encouraged to pull some scarier shit in my room, especially since it was the middle of the night. Also, when I opened my eyes right as I heard the strange sound, my heart started beating so fast and I gasped really loud— all by reflex, it even surprised me. I ended up staying awake for the rest of the night until 6:30 AM, on the phone with Kris because I was terrified. I was able to feel something present in my room, too. As we were up talking all night, Kris also told me how his Grandma told him that when you’re outside, and you do something to attract some evil spirit(s), it will follow you home and stay with you. It was so unusual for me for something like this to happen because my house nor neighborhood is even haunted, nor has a record of something odd happening in my house before we lived here. But as I thought, I just then remembered that before I went home, Kris walked me the whole way to my house, we sat on a curb right outside my house, just talking in the quiet dark, no cars passing by or people, and we yelled at each other at one point. I thought maybe this was why— probably attracted some spirit’s attention. It creeped me out even more thinking/talking about it on the other end.
By the way Kris had described it to me— it was literally a laugh that was deep and raspy, and he also said that it concluded with some breathes at the end and a low chuckle. My God, I haven’t even slept well without going underneath my covers and suffocating my self until I fell asleep with my iPod last night (so I could avoid hearing the laugh or anything else if it came around again), because I didn’t want to be exposed or anything. Ugh, it literally scared me to death. Just think about it, someone telling you while on the other line of the phone, that they just heard a fucking deep throaty laugh on your end. While no one was in the room with you, and no other possibilities to alter the idea other than a ghost/spirit was present.
